Please pay extra attention to the homes around you. A thief or thieves are brazenly robbing homes in day time hours, perhaps knowing the owners are at work.
I received this e-mail:
My mom (Marti) was robbed a few weeks ago on a rainy Thursday
> afternoon. Both of her deadbolts were locked. It is believed that the
> thief saw her leave (he was running from the police from an earlier
> attempted robbery where a sick kid scared him away). There were muddy
> footprints going toward her front door where it is believed he knocked
> on the door. He smashed in her side door (when I say smashed, I mean
> that the entire doorframe was shattered---the deadbolts held). It was
> relatively easy to tell where he went in the house by following the
> muddy prints. He took her entire jewelry box, dumped a large container
> of change and took loose paper money from the dresser. He felt
> comfortable enough to go through drawers, cabinets, and closets. Also
> missing was a pillowcase (for all of the change??). She was only gone
> for a few hours, but that is all it took.

They also broke into Councilman Nordin's home. If you see anything that looks suspicious, please call Reading Police at 7633-4122 or 911.
