I originally did the paper work for the gardens in may. In june i was told I missed a couple of questions so I answered them and gave Walt the paperwork in less that 5 minutes. The hearing was in august so I looking ahead to next year. Still havenot gotten the list of questions from Phil. Talked to him friday when I was released from hospital and he was still waiting for questions from other members of comm.

How late in the year can one start up winter wheat, anyhow? I figure that will be about the only plantable thing by the time the bureaucrats get done throwing pointless questions (and their weight) around.

Its not over yet. I'm waiting for my list of questions. Did get 1 quote for installing a water line of just under 3 grand. You can send your thoughts pro or con to Gerry at city hall.

I really don't know anyone who would oppose a garden.........probably the same people who think we need another temp agency or dollar store instead. Kudos to you Don for trying anyway!

Maybe the patrons of the local bar scene can take care of watering the crops!

Wow, a whole 3 or 4 people!  Guess we better do what they say, because those 3 or 4 people are more important than everyone else in St. B.  I thought we were trying to improve Vine St. and make our community better.  What better way than a Community garden.  I just don't get people sometime.

The rest of council and administration meet in executive session a couple weeks ago ( I excussed myself from that part of the meeting) to discuss my property, Mr. Weideman informed me the next day that the city was not interested in my property.
Gardens are considered an accesory use, so they have their own zoning requirements.
My plan was to allow people to grow a vegtable garden FREE OF CHARGE! Mr Stegman told be Tuesday morning that 3 or 4 people at a St. Clements mass told him they didnot want a garden there.

Why won't the city just buy your little plot of land from you?

I'm confused...Don, would the city be buying your property, or are you donating it to the city?  The part that I am confused on, is if you are just letting people use it but you still own it, isn't it private property and can't you do what you want with it, as long as it's withing the zoning laws?

Ah, only a few hurdles to jump and a couple rolls of red tape to cut through before planting a garden...just what we all like to see! By the time the bureaucrats are done the first frost may be on the ground.

We need to have a contest here with regards to what the letters  'CIC' actually stands for. "Clowns In Charge" is the only non-obscene entry I can think of at the moment.

The Board is going to give me a list of questions to answer such as what kind of plants are I'm going to allow. How big plots would be . Water availability.
Mr. Stegman stated that he will vote No no matter what the answers are.
No body in audience objected to the garden 1 letter from a business owner across the street said if the city was not going to buy the lot for parking he was ok with a garden there.
Mr. St Clair and the Schuler brothers were there along with Elains Sipe and Dave from the CIC.
I did supply the board with a email I received from Mr Kanters that he got from the Civic Garden center that stated the positives from a Community Garden.
