Bill announced last council meeting that he has offered a person the job.
No clue who it is.

Just make sure you hire a professional  ie someone who is qualified for the job.  Pay what needs to be paid and get the right person this time.  Don't make the same mistakes that were made when we hired our other socallled professional to run the CIC.  Its time.  Hire someone or get off the pot.

The city and their hiring process is a big joke. Why does anyone even fill out applications anymore? It seems to me, they always know who they want in advance. Rather than being sneaky about it, just hire who they want right off the bat. Sure, they look like even bigger jerks by doing this, but what else is new?  idiot2

Now I hear that all 60 + fire candidates are being sent through the physical agility test AND THE LIE DETECTOR TEST!  Don do you know if this is true?  At $300 buck a pop I sure hope not!

True, you hit the nail on the head. The civil service commission does what the administration tells them to do

If I remember correctly the City was charged $300.00 for each test. If any civil serv. members want to post the correct amount be my guess.

This is insane!  The lie detector does not get figured into the list.  There was only a test to determine the standings.  If a candidate is interviewed and liked, send them to get a lie detector.  If they pass they get the job.  No where does it mention in the hiring process that there are other test steps.  Just like the physicals do not count towards your position on the list.  Why would we spend money on a candidate that isn't getting a job?  Don do you know how much a lie detector test cost?    Try common sense and do it in a timely manner and maybe people won't think it Corrupt!  Everytime this City gives a test it is screwed up.  The Civil service is part time and they do what the administration tells them to do,  instead of following the rule of law!

i still think it's crazy.  Maybe that shouldn't be part of the score, especially since they don't really go by the score anyways.  It always boils down to who certain people want in that position.

The "scoring" of the lie detector has to be "figured" in .

I know some people have moved on to take lie detector tests, which really confuses me why you would spend all that money on all those lie detector tests, why would you wait until it was narrowed down to one person and have that person take the test, if they fail, you move to the next person and then have them take the test.  Just seems like a waste of money having people take a lie detector test when they may not even have the job.  I love how this city knows how to waste money.

What does "qualifications" have to do with anything? Have you noticed who runs the city? Good ole boys and good ole St. Bernard politics.
