This isn't about someone who happens to forget one time.  Its not about an employee holiday.  It IS about people who don't give a d*** about their community and put their trash out whenever it is convenient for them.  They don't care if it gets ripped open by birds or scattered in their neighbors yard.    Absentee landlords clean out their slums on a saturday and leave the piles of mess at the curb to be picked up on Tuesday.

The service department guys don't have to pick up the mess, but they do.  If they let it lay in the yards you'd be screaming that the service department wasn't doing their jobs.

Get a clue -- look at the real issue here.

Those who don't live in St. Bernard should not worry themselves about St. Bernard.

Any community that would ticket a homeowner for setting out garbage a day early, just because a day happens to be a holiday that is mostly celebrated by public sector employees and those belonging to a union is a community that doesn't care near as much about residents as it does raising money via fines. And I would bet the only people who support such a policy likely get a paycheck from said community.

UNHAPPY, we live in a society of laws, and if you don't and can't abide by them then you are a law breaker. If you don't like the garbage ordinance then get it changed,if not, I suggest you abide by the laws of this town.
Thanks Don for trying to help us.
Oh by the way, this is why the town looks so bad, people like you that put their garbage out whenever they want, and then the wind and birds spread it all over. The law is very clear on times and dates. AND if you didn't know, all garbage is supposed to be bagged and in a garbage can on the curb.
And unhappy,I will gladly work on holidays but it will cost you time and a half, so I think if you would just follow the rules it would save the city money!

I'm sorry but I think it is ridiculous that some members on council and others focus so much on garbage.  Not everyone gets the call messages and some people just plain forget.  For instance, not everyone is off on Monday, so you know what, I may just forget that it's a holiday for the city workers.  Maybe that is a way to cut back and have the city workers start working these holidays like Presidents Day, Columbus Day.  I and many others have to work those holidays.  I think it's a waste of time and money to focus on these poor people who didn't realize their garbage day got changed.  I realize that their are problem people that need to be taken care of but come on!  I know I will raise all kinds of hell if I get a ticket because I accidently set my garbage out on the wrong day.

Due to Presidents day this Monday there will be no garbage pickup on Monday. Pick ups will be Tuesday and Wednesday. I had some signs made up to remind peolple of this so you will be seeing them around this weekend. I would rather put signs up then having tickets given to people.

The service department has the next 2 fridays off, so garbage and recycling will be picked up a day earlier Wednesday and Thursday Dec. 22&23 and 29&30 instead of Thursday and Friday 23&24 and 30 &31

With Thanksgiving Thursday and the service dept. being off on friday the entire city will have their trash and recycling picked up on Wednesday. This is for this week only!

Problem
Well, I believe Independence Day is the 4th of July!

 Idea
Yes, you are, infact, factually correct--congratulations.

 Solution
You'll note that Mason had it's Red White & Boom on the 3rd of July. So, we're not alone.

So why is the city celebrating the 4th of July on the 3rd?  Does anybody else have a problem with this?  Hello, it's the "4th" of July holiday!

You'll notice the signs said Independence Day Celebration, not "Fourth of July" Celebration.

Only professional people and city workers for the most part, are off on Monday. I was kidding about the original post, but it does work out nicely for everybody else that does have to work on Monday (myself included) to be able to celebrate on Saturday instead of Sunday.

sickntired - I think most people are off the 5th since the 4th is on a Sunday, so they would have time to recuperate.  I'm sorry it just doesn't seem right to me.
