It was a huge and impressive rally in DC, much bigger than the so-called million man march, ABC estimqated 1.5 to 2 million TEA PARTY protesters, looking at the pictures I can believe it.

I just spent some time in Illinois a few weeks back--man they seem to tax
everything
now. Won't be a bit surprised to see Ohio follow their lead in the future.

Tick
Yes the feds are talking about the pop tax.
Also I read in the paper this week that the Ohio Supreme court has ruled 6-1 that the state can tax groceries. Hope I was dreaming when I read that.

Are they really pushing to put a one cent per ounce tax on soda pop? If so, no more tea parties......they will now be called soda pop parties.

Nemesis,
I take it your skin is thinner than the newsprint I use? OK, don't take it as an attack - it's not meant to be. You have (sometimes!) outstanding insight but IMO, it gets because it is so hard to read.
Far be it from me to chastise posters for grammar or spelling mistakes, leaving a word or more out, etc. As you say - this is a forum and I always believe that if a reader can understand what someone else is trying to say, that's all that is needed. But I know I, and others, sometimes have trouble wading through your words.
If I was really upset, I would send you a copy of "Hooked on Punctuation."
Be happy - the weather is great for growing a garden!

VC,Mike,Czar,Teach,Little Professor,Headmaster, Host, Whatever, if the shoe fits, and as they say " you be gallupin on dat high horse, mon" methinks the name of dat horse be hypocrisy,I be movin on now!, blow me a sweet kiss as you check my six.
I've never denied being verbose, never touted diplomas,or degrees (maybe cause I don't have any?) and really avoided correcting other posters, they as well as myself came here to give our opinions on a myriad of topics, not to recieve critism, correction,or tutorials as to how to give proper voice to our opinions,I have no knowlege of the personal circumstances or educational levels of most of the posters.
I personally believe that would be the height of arrogance and bigotry for anyone to assume such an imperious attitude in such an informal cybersphere with family, friends, and neighbors.
I have always endeavored to answer to the best of my ability any questions about statements I have brought forth in this forum, and for the vast majority who seem to be able to grasp my posts thank you for your patience, civility and understanding, apparently there are at least one, maybe more who have a peculiar interest in my particular posts, for those of you who apparently cannot comprehend my unintelligible posts,I apologise, one of my favorite quotes is by Albert Einstein, "Imagination is greater than Knowlege" NEMESIS

VC perhaps you should consider setting up a training program for hopeful perspective posters who aspire to meet your lofty expectations, to weed out those of us who don't meet your educational or training requirements.
Or maybe you can take a remedial English class.

Your belief is totally and completely wrong. I wrote, not as VC but as Mike (and as a long-term member you have had many opportunities to read that posting as VC is different).
So maybe a friendly suggestion can be offered here, why don't you step down off your condescending high horse, stop counting the words and read them, maybe that will help you percieve the issue, you can always ban me,it's that simple, I actually prefer the PALTALK political voice chat rooms anyway, don't have to worry about the browbeating little professors.
And a likewise friendly suggestion, which has been made by others - start writing stuff that is not impossible to read and comprehend.

I'll type this really slow for you - I have no ego. I host this forum to give people a way to speak their minds. Yeah, in this thread I make suggestions such as ways to make your messages easier to read - if you really have a problem with that and think I am a forum czar, then go play on a different playground.
I'll sign this as VC, not Mike.

VC you totally didn't grasp the point
Well, perhaps if you didn't type 386 word sentences someone as dumb as me could come close to understand what you are saying!

VC you totally didn't grasp the point,it wasn't about politicians or appointees,I have nothing against anyone working and earning pensions (plural) they worked it they earned it,they put the years in it's theirs,I see no problem there.
That was not what I was talking about, and a ballot iniative has nothing to do with any of it,the question was about taxing health benefits, the rest was my opinion about certtain practises that I feel are unethical, immoral, and maybe even illegal.
Merely my opinion, but given to express my feelings about certain practises in certain departments,I am sure those who are engaged in these practises will be properly inflamed and indignent over this issue, not my intention to name names,or mention exact figures,or what specific time periods are involved, these are things politicians and their appointees are or should be more concerned with,as a taxpayer, concerned citizen and retired public servant I have merely stated my opinion about this issue.

386 words in one sentence.
But to address your question (I think there was one in there someplace), there is a thing called a Ballot initiative that can stop this practice. There was a councilman in a neighboring community who resigned his seat, he having accumulated enough years in public service to draw benefits. That's fine and dandy, but then he, since his party is in power, asked to be reappointed to the seat he resigned from. This is allowed. But a friend, who spent over 20 years in the Service before retiring, then got hired as a letter carrier and will have worked for more than 25 years at that job, will not get any public retirement funds.

Nemesis,
How do you feel about the conservative movement setting its' sights on public pensions now that they aren't recieving their obscenly large performance bonuses and stock options. Suddenly those midldle class sevice workers, police, and firemen have it to good. If the GOP had their way all a lifetime of public service would get you is a thank you and a swift kick in the rear on the way out so they could hurry up and hire someone at a lower pay grade.
Now we know these statements to be nonsense,I would like to ask how you feel about the userper and his national socialist democratic party wanting to tax all health benefits that should be a hefty bill due based on the generous health benefits the tax payers provide,I personally feel these fascist socialists are in fact destroying our country, quadrupling our debt in 100 days and increasing it by a trillion dollars a year for the next ten years, this is insane,if not intentional, then by sheer stupidity.
However having broached that subject I have another, when a public employee decides to retire his retirement income is figured upon his last three highest years pay,I have no problem with anyone who works in the normal course of their work who makes overtime etc. getting paid, however I do take issue with employees colluding to artificially inflate the last three years of their paid hours to dramatically inflate their pensions,(when I use that phrase artificially inflate, I mean the any and all use of measures to add to the overtime accumulation of an employee) it may not be breaking a law, but morally and ethicly it should stick in the eye of the taxpayers whose burden has increased, as well as the pension systems that are burdened with more over inflated pensions,it's no wonder certain state employees pensions are struggling, considering all the creative ways certain employees have come up with creating plans to create more and costly ways to inflate their pensions, and I am not talking a mere few thousand a year,I am talking between ten and fifty thousand a year, for that last three year period, anyone who has any doubt can go to city hall and ask for and recieve the pay records for all employees and see for themselves,I appreciate the honest and hard work performed by our public employees, whom we pay and compensate very well to perform their jobs, we pay them to run in while everyone else runs out, that's fully expected and comes with the job and the perks, I truly am tired of hearing the so-called heroes whine, professionals suck it up and push on,regardless whether or not someone pats you on the head or sings your praises,it's not about the accolades or medals but the sense of personal accomplishment and a job well done, doing the job right and selflessly usually insures all the rest will come in a normal environment, emphases on the word normal, the word hero has been so over used and co-opted as to be meaningless these days,it's supposed to be about above and beyond what you are paid to do, or expected to do in the performance of your duties,ABOVE and BEYOND, get it?.
For some crazy reason this city defies all normal laws of logic and reality, more often than not proving that the less you do, the more people think you do and reward you more, just like this forum where you are rewarded for brevity and brevity is no assurance of quality, nor is volumn for that matter, but the fact remains here you are rewarded for less. My opinion.
