The new system is working much better. However, I suspect 3-4 people (not bots) have tried to register but used a fake e-mail address. The logs show that they have tried to log on to post but get a message they have not verified their e-mail address. You must use a real e-mail address and you must click on a link in a message you will receive as part of the registration process.

An update,

Hopefully, I have taken care of the problem of bots trying to join so they can send spam. Bots (so far) can not read a CAPTCHA - that picture that shows up where the user has to type in the letters and or numbers that are displayed. Time will tell.

Dogtown,

I suspect that is because the old cache has been cleared out and it is loading images from scratch. That should speed up as you visit.

Able to get in, it just seems to take a bit longer when going from page to page at the moment.

I tried to update the forum software yesterday - it has been outdated for over a year and there were a couple of security risks. It didn't go perfectly but I don't know how everyone is able to use it.

If you are having problems, please e-mail me: wordwiz@fuse.net.

Go back to e-mailing me that you want to join. All those people carping about not being able to register - they must have taken a page out of Yuck/TB/Wild Kingdom's playbook because only one legit person has registered in the last 2+ weeks. Meanwhile, I'm deleting 8-10 "members" a day.

So, if you want to post, e-mail me with your preferred username. I'll register you and send you an e-mail with your passowrd, which you can change.

Okay, I'll give this another shot. Registration is now re-opened but be sure to use a valid e-mail address and respond to the e-mail message asking you to activate your registration. Hopefully, the spammers will stay away for a while.

E-mail me: wordwiz@fuse.net with your preferred user name.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but it's the only way I have of nipping spammers before they start posting inappropriate messages. I'm getting up to ten "people" a day registering who are using fake e-mail addresses. FWIW, you will not be revealing more info than is already available which is your e-mail address. There is no need to identify yourself. Once I register you, you will receive an e-mail with your user name and a password. You can change the password.
