I wonder how many members of our current administration and their families and friends have an interest in building a new home in St. B?

With the minutes and tapes of the last council meeting being sensored, does anyone know what is going on with the cities plans or non plans for the bertus park area or are we going to drive by some day and see a bulldozer.

My wife likes Loreena McKennitt, leans more to Kate Bush. I just like to rock.

V.C.
I give who is Paul Winter?
How about ac/dc

You haven't heard of "Icarus"?
Winter was one of the first artists to incorporate such exotic instruments as the sitar and tabla into his music and the result was memorable chamber jazz-folk played in the wonderfully experimental, post-hippie way only Winter and his merry band could. The title track, one of guitarist Ralph Towner's compositions, became famous for its pensive melody and soaring soprano sax. "Whole Earth Chant" is a piece that foreshadows New Age artists like Loreena McKennitt with its echoing tribal drums interwoven with ominous distorted guitar. And "Minuit" downright borders on what today some would call world music--it features a choir of voices singing a simple, sauntering melody taken from a Guinean folk song. Classic early '70s Winter. --Karen Karleski

If Icarus isn't your cup of tea, you could always listen to some Jean Luc Ponty.

Gooch you are correct we need new housing, but we need new infrastructure first, so someone would want to even think about building here.  There is nothing on Vine St. that says "welcome " anymore and it has to change in order to attract new residents.  I take it you did not see the plans for the park with 3 lots and a toddler park you can't throw a ball in because it is so small. That was with three houses not four.   A park should not be sacrificed for a couple of homes when the school uses it so much and kids learn basic sport skills there.  If we can now take park property go down to Chalet Dr. and build on the green space between the two small play areas.  There is room enough for quite a few homes there without touching the play areas there.
The Park Place problem with the unwanted crowds is just a excuse for the city to build up there and if the police would just get out of their crusiers and do a walk through every half hour or so the problem would go away.  I think this should be given a chance before we make a mudhole up ther that no ones will be able to use for years.  For example Nu-Maid, library lot, 618 E. Ross, lot across from St. Clement, etccc.  Yes Tim Hackey does a good job and he would like to have more chances to build homes, but let us not forget he is a contractor in the business to sell homes and provide a living for his family.  I spoke with him and he told me he most likely will not build on that lot where the greenhouses where for a year or more so now that will sit vacant.   He is only one man in a town with alot of issues.

Shops on Short Vine in Clifton played Classical music in the 90's to run off the groups of young people hanging around out front.St. Clements is expecting alot more students next year,Whats wrong with compromising?Put 3-4 houses up there and leave the back end of the park for recess,Thier recess is small, the bigger kids used to go down to VIne st. park..
St. Bernard NEEDS new housing to survive. Its that simple. We cant compete with the suburbs. Our housing stock is 100+ years old.Mr. Hackney is doing a wonderful service to this community by building new houses and fixing up old ones. And ALL of his properties sell.
most people want a newer home with modern conveniences.

I had a friend tell me that in a city (can't remember which) store owners had a problem with bad crowds hanging in front of their stores driving away potential customers.  Like St. Bernard  council said you can't discriminate against groups of people so the  strong arm of the law failed to remedy the problem.  A store owner figured out a solution and it worked!  He put up speakers on the exterior of his store and played beautiful classical music all day long.  The bad people left and the store prospered once again.  So ther ya go renovate the park with new baketball courts, new swings, a nicer pinic area and speakers and put on some Beethoven and enjoy the arts.  I don't even think I'll go there lol  Thumbsup

Is it true that council is being lead to believe that St. Clement school will be closed within two years, there-for they should not worry about the park being important to the school. That is a sad story someone is making up. I would hope the administration would work with the school instead of spreading false facts.
