Interesting reading:

Maybe we should build something like this at Bertus and Vine right next to St.Clement!

What the F#@$ is going on here?
We are actually talking about MOVING the tennis courts to another park? Spending money to build something that already exists?
What is "temporary veterans housing?" Sounds a lot like a halfway house. Nothing against veterans, but how would this benefit my City(Village)?
Will we tear up the tennis courts before Council approves the new construction? (see Bertus Park)
Why not skip a major expense and locate your housing project up at Chalet Park? (cannot build on dedicated park land? See Bertus Park.)
Are the tennis courts part of Ross Park?
Is that land dedicated?
As I warned a long time ago, once the trend is put into motion to allow the City to grab land and use it for whatever purpose a few short sided individuals see fit, then there will be no turning back. If the land that the tennis courts sit on is indeed dedicated park land, then Council has the ability to declare that this land is no longer needed for public use. (see Bertus Park) My best guess is that the City(Village) would need then to sell the land to the builder for the project. This is a bad deal. The bigger problem here is that there is no long term planning and follow through. There is more vacant land in this City(Village) than ever before and there is countless empty housing stock. I will be crucified and blasted at the mere suggestion of building on Chalet Park by a few influential residents that live in that area. God forbid we build subsidized housing on their doorsteps!

okay, this is a silly thought but why not use one of the empty lots instead of tearing down or up something else.

Yes the VOA will be at the cow meeting this thursday 8-31 to discuss using the tennis court area for short term veterans housing. Mr. Meyers is looking at putting tennis courts up at Chalet park. No clue as to the cost of building new courts. This will not be discussed in executive session so come on down.

Hey Don T,
I heard that the bulldozers are heading for the tennis courts in the near future.
Can you help us out with some info?

Duped I try to answer your questions.
The senior housing project is scheduled to get started in Feb.
Have no heard anything about when the lots will be sold at Bertus park.
The CIC is susspose to be working on the lot at bertus and vine and we have not heard anything from the library. Mr Kanters has been talking with them .
The open position in FD was not filled because Bill was waiting on a new list from civil service. It was Bills decision to use part time emloyees instead of hiring another fulltime person in Service dept.

So I have no right to complain unless I run for Council?
That would mean that there needs to be 4900 Council seats, right?
I have made suggestions at meetings, in person, and on this Forum. I have also expressed my opinions at the polling booth.
What scares me about what you are implying is that our Council has absolute power and should not listen to the taxpaying citizens. Not everyone can be a Councilperson. Everyone has a right to express their opinion.
My beef is that NOTHING is happening.

Furthermore, if you are indeed a Councilperson or at least a close supporter of one, your over the top arrogance should bring fear to every resident of this town.
You and people like you are what is wrong with the current state of ST. B.

I shudder to think what you all could do if you put half as much time into running for council and coming up with ideas to solve these problems versus the time you seem to spend coming up with "fun" nicknames for Al Kanters and bitching about what other people are doing wrong.
I await your bids for Council in 2011.
Merry Christmas

Duped,
I dont want to rain on your parade, but there wont be any work on any of the projects you mentioned for at least the foreseeable future. Council is preoccupied with trying to find a way to stall the budget as long as they can, very familiar smell to 2004 isnt it. It wont be long and theyll be asking for a tax levy, i'm sorry I almost forgot we just approved that did'nt we. It woulld appear that it is politics as usual in the great City of St. Bernard. I will say that I feel that there a few on council that really do have the best interest of the City at heart, however they are getting bogged down by the wonderful
City Grinches
. It will be interesting to see all of the smiling council people faces at the Christmas in St. Bernard, knowing that 2 of them absolutely hate the people of this City and anything to do with its progress. I will be the first to say it, I see a round of cuts across the board just before a big influx of unforeseen income.
Just come out and say it: John and Cindi want to cut payroll and that is going to be the centerpiece of their election campaign. There - can it be any clearer than that?
