Now that there are 2 homes under roof on the park property, does anyone out there know who bought the lots?

I was going to post this in the Politics forum since this topic is very political, but........
It appears that 3 of the 4 lots up at Bertus Street Park are marked "SOLD" on the Maronda signs.
I guess this means that St B is gaining at least 3 new, young families! I can't wait to meet them....

Don't think they post the hearings on the website. Phil left the Block watch meeting early to go to the hearings.

There is a public hearing tomorow Tuesday April 19th at 7:30 in council chambers to change the park from an R2 district to a R1. There is also a hearing at 7 for Vine street.
You must be mistaken about the public hearings Don because I don't see it listed on the calendar on the city website.

Why compare this facility to ones in Dayton? Lets compare them to the ones in Cincinnati, you know, the ones where people are walking away, committing crimes, and hanging around. I'm sure you can find a nice camode at one diner, but the majority of them ain't fit for sh#t!

How many tax dolars to demolish the Tennis Courts, put in utilities, rebuild the Tennis Courts vesus how many tax dollars will the city recieve from this facility? How many years to recoup the investment?
It might be a nice building and be structured, but why take our park? Not enough other vacant land?
If its so nice, let some other community like Madeira, Blue Ash, Evendale have it. Ooopsss they are run by people who actually have a clue! No way would those communities allow this facility, why should we?

Last Friday council recieved a e mail from Paul Meyers asking for this to be put on the cow agenda. I have talked to Paul and he has told me that its a very structured place. The resident have to have been honorably discharged to participate. He and Phil went to dayton to see the facility there. I would suggest that as many people that can come and hear for yourselves and ask questions.

Does anybody at City Hall read? Just what does St. Bernard get for this coming headache? A bigger tax base? Valuable contributing members of society? How about future residents who live or have lived a life of crime who are looking to rob and rape what citizens we have left.

Cincinnati residents said they're tired of sex offenders walking out of Volunteers of America halfway houses and returning to a life of crime.
According to police reports, rapes, theft, killings and other crimes are being committed by some of those who walk away from the VOA. In the last weeks, there have been series of crimes committed by sex offenders from the center, reports said.
A handful of residents made protest signs in their backyards to force the VOA to go away.
"This program is not effective when you have people graduating then committing the same crimes they were arrested for, originally. Again, people graduate from the program and settle here. They get a cheap apartment and we get stuck with them,? said Tony Walsh, president of the McMicken Association.
Organizers are urging residents to join the protest on Monday at 5:15 p.m.
In response to the Monday's planned protest the VOA issued this statement:
"Volunteers of America understands the concerns of those living near our facility and respects those who are expressing their thoughts. We continue to stand with the community and share its interest for safety and concern for those residing in the neighborhood and our city. We will continue to work with the neighborhood and local law enforcement in an effort to preserve public safety."

So we are about to tear up another park to put in a halfway house for vets that even Cincinnati doesn't want?
I get sick of the smug looks of St. Bernardian's as they look and laugh at Cincinnati City "Clowncil". Bozo and Bonzo reside right here on Washington and Vine. Bertus street park still sits vacant, no houses, why they couldn't leave the park there until the space was needed I'll never know. Now they want to tear down a sizeable chunk of Ross Park to put in a halfway house for criminals, hobos and vagrants, who just happen to be maladjusted veterans also, would be laughable if it wasn't true! If its so bad even Cinci complains, why are we even giving this a sniff?
Is it true this is the same group who are building our "Senior Housing"? Did they hold a gun to our heads and say "If you want Senior Housing, you also have to build a halfway house for criminals, hobos, and vagrants?" I say get rid of the Senior Housing (which STILL hasn't broken ground) if this is the choice. Just what seniors will be moving in anyway? Senior criminals, hobos and vagrants?
