The Hartwell Recreation Center construction has begun.  Work is slated to be complete May 2009.  You can log onto www.HartwellOhio.com for more updates on the Center remodel and to also find more information on alternative meeting locations for Hartwell's community organizations.

The Hartwell Neighborhood Business District Planning Meeting will take place on Tuesday, Spetember 30th from 6:00pm-8:00p at Trinity Baptist Church (8402 Burns Avenue-corner of Sheehan & Burns).  The Hartwell Improvement Association and the City of Cincinnati are partnering to create a strategic plan for the Hartwell Neighborhood Business District.  You are invited to participate in this meeting beause we need your help in developing goals for the future of Hartwell's Business District.  Be sure to tell and neighbor and we hope to see you there!

Hartwell Improvement Association will continue to meet monthly at Trinity Baptist Church (8402 Burns).  Upcoming meeting dates are:  September 16th, October 21st, November 18 and January 20th.  Meetings begin at 7pm-there is no meeting in December.  At the September HIA meeting there will be a presentation on the Hartwell School remodel slated to begin groundbreaking this fall and a presentation from CPD about the new vicious dog ordinance.

New Hartwell Recreation Facility Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday, February 27th at 6pm at the Hartwell United Methodist Church on Parkway (in the circle).  All residents are encouraged to attend and sign up for the on-going committee that will ensure our new facility has all the amenities necessary to serve our neighborhood.  See you there!

H.A.A. will be holding a Valentine's Day dance, on Febuary 10, 2007 at the Rec center.  Due to space only 100 tickets will be sold.  All proceeds will benefit the children of Hartwell that wish to play sports!  Tickets will be $3.00 and for that the child enters the dance, and receives a pop, and a bag of popcorn.  The dance will be chaperoned by current board members for this year!  More info will follow in the next week.  Thanks, H.A.A. smitten

VC--people like your neighbors are what this event should really be about.  Helping to beautify a neighborhood is something everyone can enjoy, but getting a pesonal thank you from a grateful resident makes the event a true success.  Watching her practice the steps on her own front porch with her new handrail as I drove away was the best part of my day.  Thank you to you for getting the word to us about them.  You may say that you were not able to help on Saturday, but you have been helping for months and I thank you for that.

I was not able to help, but I can tell you some volunteers made a HUGE DIFFERENCE in Hartwell today. A huge thanks to the people who organized something for their town. For those communities that think you can't Make A Difference, ask my neighbors, who had a hand railing installed, their back yard cleaned up and part of their property mulched. Yes, they need help - they were both seriously hurt in a vehicle accident this spring. But they were greatly thankful.

Boy Scouts will soon be selling luminaries for Hartwells Light up the Valley event.  This years event will also include the Rec center being open and Santa has been rumored to try to drop in on us again this year.  Horse drawn trolley and a carriage are in the plans to tour the streets of Hartwell during this event.  Homeowners are encouraged to decorate their homes and line their sidewalks with luminaries.  We will keep everyone posted on the final event plans.

Thank you to the Boy Scouts of Hartwell who starting working at 7:30a on Saturday to place and plant the new planters on Vine steet.  These young men worked very hard and got a great deal done in a matter of a few hours.  Thank you to Chuck & Debbie for organizing this project and for all their volunteer efforts in our neighborhood.  Debbie recommend more planters for a bigger impact..and you better believe I will support that motion!

THANKS AGAIN Boy Scouts!  Your hard work is appreicated by Hartwell residents and everyone who drives through our neighborhood!  Thumbsup

HJ Benken donated over $350 worth of shrubs and flowers to a few difffernt neighborhoods ( I think 25).  THank you to Benken for AGAIN their very generous donation.  We will be completely revamping the sign onthe corner of Vine & Galbraith on Make a Difference Day on Oct 21st.  The planters for Vine street will be installed the weekend of Sept. 16th.  Thanks to the help of the Hartwell Boy Scouts.  I also rode with our Urban Forestry guy to get a few trees on Vine Street replaced.  We will have a lot of BIG planting projects on Oct 21st...so please plan on Joining us!
