Put a designer dress on a bag lady, it doesn't make her into a socialite!

From Ron Johnson

2006 is kicking off to a good start for the Beautification Committee. We sponsored our second community dinner with a great turn out. The Mayor Jim Brown was there along with Councilmen Bob Brown, Ron Johnson, Frank Parker, and Jerry Raby. The Village Administrator David Krings attended along with 40 or more citizens who shared their favorite recipes. Lorene Wallen prepared her famous Chicken & Dumplings for all to enjoy they were a big success!  Everyone enjoyed the night out with friends, family and all the good food. Thanks to everyone who came out we hope to have more dinners in the future.
Spring is around the corner and we hope to have more cooperation from Mother Nature this year. It takes a lot of dedication to plant flowers and keep them alive. We would like to encourage everyone  to join us in our efforts to clean up the Village to make it a cleaner more beautiful place to live. Every year when the flowers start blooming it seems to make the Village come alive. We planted over 500 additional bulbs last fall to add to the daffodils and tulips we planted the year before so watch for those, it should be really beautiful around the Village in the spring.
The Beautification Committee will be participating in the Great American Cleanup
again this year we need volunteers to help make this a successful event. It will be held on April 22, 2006 We will meet at Clock Plaza at 10:00am and work until 2:00pm
We now have a Parks and Recreation Booster Club. We need volunteers to get this up and running. This can be a great asset to our Village by giving the Children something fun to do.
We will be combining the Beautification Committee Meeting with the Parks and Recreation Booster Club  The next meeting will be held on March 6, 2006 @7:00pm at the Recreation Hall behind the Police Station.  If you would like to participate in either of these programs please plan to attend the meeting. Or contact Ron Johnson @ 761-7420 ext 208
