The Carthage Recreation Center is open everyday for senior activities. Birthdays will be celebrated, Monday April 27 at 12 pm, Bingo at 12:30 pm . We play cards every Tuesday at 12:30 pm. Another fun activity is painting, held every Wednesday from 10am-12pm. Enjoy Dominos every Wednesday at 12:30 pm. Thursday is chair volley bal from 10am-12pm at Su Ca gym. On Fridays, enjoy quilting from 10am-12pm. We will have a catered dinner April 17 at 5 pm and a Pot luck dinner April 24 at 5 pm. We also have a fitness room. Carthage seniors travel throughout the year to Kentucky state parks, local restaurants and go shopping. Our dues is only 10.00 per year and you do not have to live in Carthage to belong. In observance of Arbor Day, Mayor Jim Brown of the Village of Lockland would like to extend an invitation to everyone to attend the annual tree planting ceremony to be held at Gardner Park, located at Bacon Street and Westview Avenue on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.

 

Mark your calendars! The Saints Peter and Paul Mission Commission Card Party and Bingo is on Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 pm in the Bingo Hall. Admission is $2. Everyone is welcome!

 

The Andy Ramsey Golf Outing will take place on Saturday, May 9 at the Glenview Golf Course. The shotgun format begins at 1:30 pm, you are asked to show up at 12:30 pm. This is an 18-hole with cart event, which includes dinner and drinks at Koenig Park after the event. You can show support by donating raffle or auction items or you or your business can sponsor a hole! If you want to donate and item or sponsor a hole, call John Bogucki at 965-1626 or Tyler Strole at 238-7135. Tickets are limited so get yours early. Send in your information and checks prior to May 1 for a foursome for $320. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and they will be drawing out prizes throughout the night. All proceeds benefit the Andy Ramsey Scholarship Fund. Next Saturday, April 18, the Fund’s Baseball/Fast Pitch Softball tournament featuring Ursuline, Cincinnati Christian, Versailles and Reading High Schools will compete in the tournament which starts at 11 am. There will be pizza, hamburgers, cheeseburger, hot dogs, pop, etc., to purchase  as well as two raffles going on simultaneously at the Tournament.  One will be similar to a bid and buy and one will be similar to a split the pot. Come out, enjoy some ball games and support this fund raiser.

 

Mom Prom - “Funky Town.” Moms enjoy yourself with your special little guy. This formal dance (for boys 3-14 years old and their mom) will be highlighted with dancing, a pizza dinner, a keepsake photo, a sundae bar and a special gift. Tickets are on sale now! All tickets are pre-sale, none will be sold at the door. The dance will be held at the Sharonville Community Center 10990 Thornview Dr., will be held Saturday, May 9 from 7-9 pm. The cost for residents is $16 per couple ($6 for each additional son!) and $19 ($7) for non-residents. For more information contact Michael Blomer at 563-2895.

 

The April meeting for the Reading Democrats will be on the 9th at 8:15 pm at the Knights of St. John Hall, 423 Pearl Street. Bring your friends and neighbors to learn what are the current and future activities for the City. We will have our usual tasty tidbits plus cold libations.  The Brinkman-Carnevale Golf Outing will be May 8 at the Glenview Golf Course. It will be a four-man scramble with a shotgun start. The Sharonville Fine Arts Council is hosting the play “Theory of Mind” on Saturday, April 18 beginning at 7:30 pm, doors open at 6:30 pm. (There will be refreshments provided.) This play is part of an outreach program of the Playhouse in the Park. This program brings plays into neighborhood communities to provide a taste of the work that the Playhouse in the Park provides to the people that would not normally see it. This will be one of seven programs that will be presented at the Fine Arts Theory of Mind is a new play by Ken LaZebnik (Winner of the Macy’s New Play for Young Audiences).  It is about a difficult love for Bill, a 16-year old who is autistic. He is in love with Hilo and the play follows the struggles and challenges that Bill has trying to achieve his goal of having love. The play is featuring the Playhouse’s Lafley Touring Company which has acting interns tour the Tri-State area to educate young audiences. They have done plays with themes about race, war, teen problems and works by Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll and C.S. Lewis. Tickets run $10 per person and you must register to ensure your seat. The play is recommended for ages 12 and up. Call Rhonda at 563-2895 or Sue at 267-6242 at the Recreation Center to register. You may pay by check or cash or online with a credit card.
