Serving These Communities

Covering the Heart of Hamilton County Since 1983
The City of Sharonville values its businesses within the City and strives to provide the best possible service to both the business and residential community. When the City receives a complaint regarding one of our services, we take the complaint seriously. Obviously, the column of Jeanie Wrenn in the February 7 edition of the Valley Courier is not reflective of the type of service that the residents or business community has grown to expect. In response to Ms. Wrenn's complaints, the Police Department was asked to provide a response.
To claim that the Sharonville Police Department has received tips for two years and done nothing can only mean one of two things; either the information given to us was inaccurate, or the tip has been investigated thoroughly and could not be substantiated. As Chief of this Department, I can assure you that every effort is made by my officers to arrest those breaking the law, and this Department would never knowingly allow criminal activity to occur in our City.
Every complaint raised by Ms. Wrenn was investigated but none could be verified. In the article, Ms. Wrenn referred to being accosted at Frisch's parking lot, but a report was never filed. Accosted has a wide range of meanings. Did someone ask her to move a car, get off the lot or physically assault her? Since a report was never filed, the Police Department was unable to investigate or answer the question.
The Police Department has a responsibility to follow the law when tips and/or anonymous complaints are received. The Sharonville Police Department respects each individual’s civil liberties; we do not arrest people based on vague, unsubstantiated or outdated information. Our Department occasionally receives tips regarding activity occurring in our City and every tip is investigated.
We also ask for your cooperation in solving crimes that occur in our city, particularly if you are a resident or local business owner. The use of your business or facility, in certain circumstances to conduct surveillance in an effort to see what you have reportedly seen would certainly assist us in our efforts and evidence gathering abilities.
We encourage and support all communication with the residents, business owners, and visitors to our great City, and want to reiterate the strength of the partnership between all of us. In working together we can effectively combat crime and continue to make Sharonville a great place to live and work.
